Wow, that's a lot of trees. I had a tree limb fall on my roof while I was passing under it once, but not even close to that.

What does a short throw shifter have to do with slowing down? In that scenario it'd be quicker to just clutch in, brake, and let abs sort it all out. Doesn't sound like the driver downshifted either.

there was a thread way back...some kid credited his Cobb short throw shifter for saving his life in a similar situation...

yarp, I remember that. But he attributed the shifter to quickly accelerate whilst a tree fell overhead.
I didn't put two and potato together, my bad.
